Description

Our church is committed to a biblical model of leadership with a plurality of elders, rather than a church led by one single pastor/staff member.  Our desire for this role for a full time pastor is one that will work alongside our existing elders to oversee the church's spiritual and operational needs.  Unlike the other elders/pastors who balance church responsibilities with other vocations, this role is a paid full time position dedicated to the day-to-day work of the church.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Biblical Teaching -- the full time pastor will lead the teaching team and:
    • Ensure that the structure and function align with the church's needs.
    • Develop a sustainable teaching schedule and cultivate others to teach.
    • Assure that God's Word is taught clearly and prayerfully, relying upon the Holy Spirit to bring attention and honor to Christ.
  • Shepherding -- our goal is for all of our people to be well cared for and connected.  A major part of the role of the full time pastor will be to shepherd our church body by:
    • Equipping elders, deacons and small group leaders in maintaining meaningful connections with our church body, ensuring we understand and respond to their spiritual and practical needs.
    • Visiting with church members to get to know them and to care for them.
    • Making hospital visits or coordinating with another elder or deacon to visit when needed.
    • Providing Christian counseling when needed.
  • Administrative and Operational Support -- our goal is for the life of the church and its work to be well planned and organized, effective teams built for its ministries and day-to-day needs be met.  The full time pastor will assist with key administrative tasks to ensure the church operates smoothly.  These include:
    • Membership Process:
      • Oversee the membership process, ensuring classes are taught as needed (either by teaching or coordinating others).
      • Develop systems to engage new members in discipleship and church life.
    • Deacon Engagement:
      • Ensure that the deacons are effectively serving the church body within their giftings.
    • Oversee Church Communication:
      • Work with assigned individuals/teams within the church to ensure newsletters, announcements, social media and stage communications are handled effectively.
      • Strengthen communication between staff, elders, deacons and the church body.
