Junior High/Senior High Pastor

Job Purpose:

Full Time, Exempt, Ministry 40 hours/week Semi-monthly
On Campus, Not Remote Discipleship Pastor

To provide leadership in meeting the needs of Junior High and Senior High students (grades 8-12) and their families as part of the Discipleship team of First Baptist Church.

Qualifications:

• ?  Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.

• ?  Proficiency with Google Suite, Office Suite, or similar.

• ?  Clear call to vocational ministry.

• ?  Visible, growing relationship with Christ.

• ?  Possess the ability to maintain a healthy balance of personal, family, and ministry responsibility.

• ?  Member of First Baptist Church who fully embraces its values, mission, and purpose.

  Experience and Skills:

• ?  Preferred spiritual gifts: teaching, shepherding, evangelism, exhortation.

• ?  Good steward of financial, physical, and human resources.

• ?  Possess the ability to embrace innovation and creativity while adapting to growth and change.

• ?  Possess the ability to use appropriate judgment, discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality.

• ?  Proven leadership skills utilizing a cooperative, collaborative, and strategic team leadership style.

• ?  Possess strong interpersonal skills to maintain healthy and motivating relationships with supervisors,

  coworkers, and volunteers.

• ?  Highly self-motivated with strong time management and organizational skills.

• ?  Shares one’s faith in Christ consistently as opportunities arise.

• ?  Passion for advancing the mission of the Gospel within the church and the surrounding community.

• ?  Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Duties:

• ?  Develop, promote, implement, and evaluate a strategic, multi-year program for students in grades 8-12.

• ?  Coordinate weekly ministries such as Life Groups, Community Groups, and Midweek.

• ?  Provide primary Bible preaching/teaching for Midweek.

• ?  Recruit, enlist, train, and equip adult volunteers for various roles in the student ministry.

• ?  Disciple Life Group leaders who invest in and make disciples of junior high and high school students.

• ?  Plan, lead, and execute purposeful events and ministries that align with the overall disciple-making

  strategy of First Baptist Church.

• ?  Develop and communicate a calendar of such purposeful events and ministries.

• ?  Develop an effective strategy for intentionally engaging students, parents, and volunteers beyond the

  church's walls, including on school campuses.

• ?  Prepare an annual budget and steward well the budgeted and designated monies for the Junior

  High/Senior High ministry.

• ?  Oversee and maintain responsibility for a designated building space known as The Upper Room.

• ?  Maintain consistent, effective communication with students, parents, and volunteers.

• ?  Provide spiritual counseling, mentoring, and discipleship of students and families.

• ?  Encourage students and parents through attendance at activities and other appropriate

  communication.

• ?  Lead and nurture assigned Lead Next interns alongside the Discipleship Pastor.

• ?  Ensure all levels of the Ministry Safe Policy are followed.

• ?  Work alongside and in support of other discipleship ministries to accomplish the collective goals of the

  discipleship team.

• ?  Maintain a knowledge base of the latest methods, strategies, events, resources, and programs related to

  the position's responsibilities.

• ?  Conduct hospital, bereavement, and other visits to church members.

• ?  Serves on Ministry Staff and attends weekly ministry staff or team meetings.

• ?  Duties as assigned by supervisor.

• ?  Sitting, standing, squatting, climbing stairs, and lifting at least 30lbs.
