Central Baptist Church Bald Knob - Senior Pastor Job Description - Bi-Vocational
The pastor will be a man called by God to lead the church to understand and embrace the importance of: evangelism, discipleship, ministry, confidentiality, and fellowship. The pastor will be an ordained baptist minister and will become a member of Central Baptist Church.
The pastor leads the church through primary biblical roles of:
- Preacher/Teacher-Ephesians 4:11-12; 1 Timothy 3:1-7; 2 Timothy 4:1-4; Titus 1:5-9
- Evangelist-2 Timothy 4:5
- Shepherd-Acts 20:28; 1 Peter 5:1-4
The pastor is required by the church to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach Biblical truths, to engage in pastoral care ministries, and to provide administrative leadership for the church activities and ministerial staff. To achieve these, the pastor must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct the sermons, worship, and bible study services. In absence from the pulpit, arrange for a guest speaker. Advise deacons and staff of dates of absence and name of substitute for any service.
- Lead in observance of ordinance, including, but not limited to baptism, Lord's supper, and ordinations.
- Conduct staff meetings as needed to keep staff informed of any and all evens, while respecting each staff members' time outside of ministry's requirements.
- Keep the deacon body and personnel team informed of any issues with staff.
- Be approachable with concerns an able to direct Biblical solutions.
- Visit members and prospective members as time allows, utilize and delegate to the deacon body and/or associated teams when needed. (Seek to know the people and their needs.
- Provide pastoral counseling, perform weddings, and conduct funerals as available.
- The pastor will keep information shared in counseling and deacon meetings confidential.
- Work with the deacons, staff and committees as they perform their assigned tasks. May be an Ex-Officio member of committees.
- Act as moderator of church business meetings.
- Be involved in the local community and be a good respresentative of Central Baptist Church.
- Develop ministry relationships with other churches and organizations when led by the Spirit, and when consistent with the church's doctrinal stance, values, and ministry goals.
- Develop a discipleship/membership program for Central Baptist Church (outreach, witnessing, spiritual maturity, etc.).
- Discern, develop consensus, and communicate vision and movement forward to what God would have our church to be and do.
