Position Overview
The Pastor of Worship & Discipleship will serve in a dual role, providing leadership in the areas of worship ministry and discipleship programming. This individual will oversee the worship ministry by leading the congregation, choirs, and worship teams, while also providing oversight and direction for small group ministries and discipleship initiatives across the church. The Pastor will work closely with the pastoral team and ministry leaders to create a culture of spiritual growth and worship that glorifies God.
Specific Responsibilities
Worship Ministry
- Lead the congregation, worship teams, and choirs in consistent, Christ-centered worship that engages the congregation and reflects biblical principles.
- Fulfill the role of lead worshiper during regularly scheduled worship services and develop others within the congregation to lead worship as well. `
- Cast vision for the worship ministry by teaching and reinforcing the biblical philosophy of
- Recruit, train, and organize musicians and volunteers, ensuring that the worship ministry is dynamic and effective. Collaborate with the tech team to recruit and train team
- Develop new music and worship teams, ensuring participation from a wide range of
- Coordinate with the Senior Pastor and other staff to plan worship services well in advance, ensuring that all elements of worship are communicated clearly and
- Provide pastoral care to individuals involved in the worship ministry, encouraging spiritual growth and connection to the larger church community.
- Foster a collaborative environment for worship planning by working with the tech team on service logistics, event planning, and technical requirements.
- Manage and oversee the church's music budget, working closely with the budget and finance committee for fiscal accountability.
Discipleship Ministry
- Promote spiritual growth through Sunday School, Bible study groups, and D-groups, fostering opportunities for congregational learning.
- Provide leadership and oversight for all Small Group education initiatives, including Sunday School classes, D-groups, and Bible studies.
- Recruit, train, and evaluate leaders for Small Groups, ensuring that the curriculum is biblically sound and spiritually enriching.
- Develop and evaluate teaching curriculum as necessary for all ministry areas, offering input and consultation on curriculum choices for other ministry leaders.
- Oversee and/or lead in adult discipleship programming, especially for Sunday

Qualifications/Expectations
- Education: A BA, MA, or MDiv (MDiv preferred) with theological training and experience in biblical worship.
- Experience: Minimum of three years of significant vocational worship leadership experience. Experience in a variety of worship style environments is a plus.
- Worship Leadership: Proven ability to lead congregational worship effectively and to develop teams for musical and technical ministry.
- Musical Proficiency: Proficiency in at least one primary instrument, with the ability to play with others and an understanding of music theory. Ability to play multiple instruments is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of and ability to use a variety of worship-related technology, including sound systems, video projection, and digital audio Familiarity with ProPresenter is preferred.
- Discipleship Experience: Ability to lead and teach in both large and small group settings, with a heart for nurturing spiritual maturity in others.
- Character: Excellent references that attest to the candidate's biblical character, leadership ability, and love for the Word.
