The First Baptist Church in Barstow, California, is currently receiving resumes for an Associate Pastor of Worship, Media, and Ministry. First Baptist Church of Barstow is a healthy multi-generational church located in the high desert of Southern California, halfway between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. First Baptist is a 77-year-old congregation with a past and present history of engaging the community and seeing people come to know Christ. We have been in the top 50 Southern Baptist churches of California in attendance, baptisms, and Cooperative Program giving.

DESCRIPTION: the Associate Pastor of Worship, Media, and Ministry will provide vision and implementation of ministries related to worship, media, and pastoral ministry at FBC. This position primarily focuses on worship but will include other pastoral duties dependent on the applicant’s giftings and calling. This position is open to part-time (worship only) and full-time applicants.

SUPERVISION: the Associate Pastor of Worship, Media, and Ministry will be under the overall direction and vision of the Senior Pastor for FBC.

SALARY: total financial package range $65,000 - $80,000 (full-time) (depending on experience, education, etc); part-time salary negotiable (depending on hours and responsibilities)

REQUIREMENTS

1. A mature, Christ-like believer
2. Beliefs must be in agreement with the current edition of The Baptist Faith and Message
3. Meet the guidelines for pastor/elder expressed in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
4. A clear call to ministry
5. Ordained or willing to become ordained
6. Prior church staff or pastoral experience preferred
7. Theological education preferred (or willing to pursue seminary education)
8. Some music training and experience preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Worship Ministry Responsibilities
   1. Develop, cast, and implement the vision for worship ministry at FBC in coordination with the Senior Pastor
   2. Develop and manage a comprehensive worship, music, and media ministry program for all demographics of the church (children, youth, and adults)
   3. Oversee all aspects of the music ministry at FBC including Sunday morning services, choirs, and special events
   4. In coordination with the Senior Pastor, oversee the planning, preparation, and leadership of Sunday morning services
   5. Ensure a high quality of music and media in both content (biblically and theologically strong) and presentation
   6. Recruit, train, and lead volunteers in the music ministry including regular rehearsals
   7. Plan outreach events related to worship (i.e. youth choir tour, community events, etc)
2. Media Ministry Responsibilities
   1. Remain up to date with current worship and technology trends
   2. Supervise the media and communications ministry of the church
   3. Oversee the preparation of all on-screen presentations, worship songs, videos, etc. for Sunday services and special events
   4. Ensure all technology and media equipment is operational and appropriately utilized
   5. Coordinate, train, and schedule necessary volunteers to cover Sunday morning and events requiring audio, visual, and lighting
   6. Oversee the streaming of worship services and events
   7. Ensure online media is up to date
3. Pastoral Ministry Responsibilities (full-time only and dependent on the minister’s giftings and callings)
   1. Assist in evangelism, pastoral visitation, and counseling as needed
   2. Assist the senior pastor in weddings and funerals as needed
   3. Assist in discipleship ministries (seniors, families, youth, children, young adults, etc) (based on gifting and calling)
   4. Assist the senior pastor in casting and implementation of overall vision of the church
   5. Possible administrative duties
