Student Pastor Job Description

Purpose:  To Lead, Grow, and Facilitate Ministry in Immanuel Baptist Church’s Student Ministry. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute a long-term church-aligned vision for IBC’s Student Ministry.
  • Oversee all aspects of IBC’s Student Ministry, including services, small groups, outreach, camps/activities, and mission opportunities.
  • Implement a complete student ministry strategy to include fellowship, worship, teaching, discipleship, evangelism, and service.
  • Pursue relationships with students, their families, and student ministry volunteers.
  • Recruit and guide a full complement of ministry volunteers.
  • Work to connect students to one another and to the larger church and community.
  • Invest in and engage with students as much as possible.
  • Keep all interested parties (students, parents, volunteers, student ministry committee) as fully informed as possible.
  • Plan and manage student ministry budget and supplemental fundraisers.
  • In all the above, act in coordination with the Student Ministry Committee.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Assist education leaders with curriculum as needed.
  • Assist Nominating Committee as needed.
  • Preach and teach as needed in the absence of Lead Pastor.
  • Other duties as required.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Gifted and called to Student Ministry, loves young people, and has a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and at the ministry level.
  • Is an engaging teacher, with a strong biblical and theological background, who is in agreement with Immanuel Baptist Church’s Statement of Faith.
  • Organized, prepared, punctual, proactive, self-starter with a positive attitude.
  • Self-motivated and able to work without close supervision; flexible to changes in procedures and/or direction.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, and a healthy family life.
  • Maintain proper priorities in your home and be the spiritual leader to your wife and children.
  • Develop personal evangelism opportunities within and outside the church.
  • Financially support the works and ministries of IBC by faithfully giving.
  • Act in accordance with the standards of an IBC pastor (written and verbal) at all times.
  • Maintain an open-door policy at the parsonage as much as possible.
  • Be open to all church leadership about ministry details as appropriate.

Authority: The Student Pastor is directly supervised by the Lead Pastor.
